The Lady Raiders soccer team won a close playoff game in Bridgeport to move onto the next round.

The Ladies played their last regular-season game Oct. 29, losing 4-0 in Liberty Bell against the Lady Mountain Lions.

Finishing the regular season ranked fifth in the Central Washington 2B league with a win-loss record of 4-7 in league, 5-7 overall, the Lady Raiders then faced off in the postseason against the number-four Bridgeport Fillies (6-6, 8-8), in Bridgeport Nov. 2, defeating them 3-2.

“We had a nice 2-0 lead at halftime,” Consultant/Trainer Randy Semanko said. “In the second half we expected Bridgeport to come out with a little more fire, and they did. In the end, we got ourselves a nice 3-2 playoff win in enemy territory!”

Jasilynn Schilling scored two for LR, while Bryn Chaffee scored one. Chaffee also had an assist, as did Blossom Armstrong.

Kyona Edmo had four saves at goalie for LR.

“The playoff win versus Bridgeport was the first playoff win in the history of LR girls’ soccer,” Semanko said. “What makes it even sweeter is we did it with only 10 players, and without the services of Madisyn Toulou, who also happens to be the league’s leading scorer.”

Toulou currently has scored 25 goals and counting for the season, leading among Washington state’s 1B/2B girls.

“The girls played outstanding soccer on Saturday, and the coaching staff couldn’t be prouder,” Semanko said. “All 10 girls that played the game were named ‘Player of the Game’ by the coaching staff. They all played so well, we couldn’t choose just one.”

The Lady Raiders were scheduled to play in Tonasket against the Lady Tigers yesterday, results of which will be reported next week.
