The Lady Raiders soccer team came out with a win over Manson sandwiched between two losses to Bridgeport last week.

The Lady Raiders lost 4-1 in Bridgeport against the Fillies Oct. 8, when Maddisyn Toulou scored the LR goal with an assist from Bryn Chaffee.

At home on Oct. 10, the Lady Raiders scored two goals in the second half to win against the Manson Lady Trojans.

"Manson was a match that was completely in LR's control," Head Coach Micah Esmond said. "The coaching staff was very happy with the way they played. The interplay between the midfield and attacking players was great. The goals were both scored off of crosses into the six-yard box."

Toulou scored one of LR's goals with an assist from Jasilyn Schilling, and Schilling scored the other goal with an assist from Toulou.

Mirella Lopez had two saves for LR at goalie.

The Lady Raiders hosted Bridgeport Saturday, this time losing 7-1 with Toulou scoring the LR goal off an assist from Schilling.

Jasilynn Shilling fends off Manson defenders on Thursday. Shilling had an assist and a goal in the Lady Raiders' 2-0 victory.

"Our losses against Bridgeport were losses that we could have avoided," Esmond said. "Soccer is a game of position and counter attacks. Sadly, most of the time, we are weak when it comes to those two aspects of the game. Nevertheless, LR will work towards getting better at each one. They are all progressing and the coaching staff is noticing it."

"I'm very proud of all the girls, because every game we are outnumbered, but none of them quit fighting odds," added Consultant/Trainer Randy Semanko. "This is a great bunch of girls; it's just too bad we didn't have a few more players on the team."

Esmond and Semanko added that injuries throughout the games also affected gameplay.

The Lady Raiders were scheduled to play in Brewster yesterday, results of which will be reported next week.

Their next game is scheduled for Oct. 17 at home in Grand Coulee at 4:30 p.m.

An away game is scheduled in Oroville on Oct. 22, also at 4:30 p.m.
