Geezers reduced to rhetoric

Who will stand up for geezer privilege? Without the benefit of definable organization, geezers are at a disadvantage. They lack status to call for a press conference or to issue position statements. The only recourse at present is to submit articles to local newspapers for publication. With no platform to speak from, public opinion seems to fall on deaf ears. There seems to be little or no interest or consideration offered by local politicians, or public officials.

The apparent lack of traction on this issue may be attributed to apathy. People are understandably busy with daily rigors and routines. It should be noted, however, that incremental actions by government agencies will eventually affect all citizens; the relentless assault on personal liberties and freedoms should not be taken lightly.

If the effort to restrict and oppress the elderly and/or disabled is successful, another demographic may become the next target.

Hopefully, some local individuals will understand the significance and importance of pushing back against seemingly mindless regulation.

To my knowledge, officials at the USBR have not responded to requests for evidence on public safety incidents at geezer beach.

If unsafe conditions exist at geezer beach, it should not be difficult to describe and illustrate them without fabricating fanciful or nonexistent scenarios. It does not seem unreasonable to expect clarification from bureau officials for their stated position.

Geezers didn’t start this controversy. The reluctance by bureau officials to respond to public opinion challenges is difficult to understand. Maybe they didn’t expect opposition. Perhaps they are waiting for a decline in public interest. Now may be a good time to ramp up the narrative and continue to shine the light on this situation.
