Grand Coulee

Police

5/13 - A woman drove her car into the ditch near the carwash at Jack’s 4-Corners Gas Station, and couldn’t back out because of the sandy conditions of the ditch. The woman said she misjudged the turn into the gas station. A man came and towed the car out of the ditch.

5/14 - A caller reported a child wasn’t in their seat on a school bus. An officer was unable to respond due to being occupied with a higher priority situation.

- A woman reported that her children were playing near the former middle school on Federal Avenue when they found a man sleeping outside the school. An officer was unable to locate the man.

- A man reportedly stole two bottles of alcohol from Safeway, and left in a Dodge truck heading east. An officer found a vehicle matching the description on Roosevelt Drive, and the man ran out and through someone’s yard. Another officer spoke with a woman who was still in the truck. She said the man stopped to pick up some alcohol, but she didn’t know he was going to steal it. The man’s suspended driver’s license was in the ashtray of the truck, and the officer used it to identify him. The woman was told to tell the man to contact police to receive a citation rather than go to jail, and that if he doesn’t contact police, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

5/15 - A man on Hillcrest in Electric City reported that a neighbor’s dog, a yellow German shepherd mix, was loose, and that it was aggressive. An officer parked near the house and the dog growled at him, so the officer didn’t get out of his car. Another officer arrived and opened a gate to the dog’s home. The dog ran inside the fenced area and the officer closed the gate. The two officers then noted a hole in the fence, which they then blocked with scrap lumber and a portable generator that were lying around the property. The owner was later contacted and told he would be cited for having a dog at large.

5/16 - A woman reported that someone had forced open the back door to her apartment, damaging the door jam in such a way as to not allow the door to close fully. The woman told her landlord, who asked her to file a police report. Nothing appeared to be missing.

- A man on Goodfellow Avenue reportedly threatened two city workers. The man said to have made the threats later called the officer saying it was his right to call people names or call the officer a “pig.” The police report was filed for information in case of further incidents.

5/17 - An officer saw a man he knew to be wanted on a warrant on Alcan Road near the rodeo grounds. He was arrested and jailed, and a substance that appears to be crystal meth was confiscated for testing.

5/19 - An officer spoke to a man in the area of Fortuyn Road, where possible vehicle prowls were reported. The man said he was just taking a walk and taking in the sights. The reporting party said he didn’t see the man take anything or attempt to get into any vehicles.

- An officer arrived at Bowen Street, where a couple was said to be in a heated argument in the street. The couple told the officer they were arguing, but that no physical violence had occurred. The couple separated for the day and the officer left.

- An officer responded to a report of neighbors arguing on Roosevelt Drive. When he arrived, one of the neighbors said they’d worked out their differences and that law enforcement was no longer needed. A woman who still wished to speak to the officer said the neighbors harass her, that drug deals occur at their house, and that their dog defecates in her yard. The officer told her how to go about getting a no-contact order.

Coulee Dam

Police

5/6 - A man staying in a motorhome on Sixth Street was told about a 72-hour parking ordinance in Coulee Dam, and that he was reported to have been there for five days. The man said he was leaving that day. The officer told him to keep the ordinance in mind if he returns to town.

5/10 - A person in a car parked in the lot across from the casino was reported to possibly be conducting drug deals. A Coulee Dam officer arrived, as did a tribal officer. The tribal officer arrested one of the occupants on a warrant.

- A teenager at North Cascades Bank flagged down an officer, and turned in a wallet he said he found while hiking with some friends. The officer took the wallet and attempted to contact the man on an ID card with a Soap Lake address. The officer was unable to leave a message on the phone.

5/11 - A dog was reported to be running at large in the area of Central Drive. A man said the dog had bit his daughter two weeks prior, and that she saw the dog again while jogging and turned around to get away from it.

- A woman reported waking up when someone was in her house and didn’t see anyone in her home, but saw a man running away from her yard. She reported two drills missing from her garage. A neighbor is said to be installing deadbolts for her.

- Two men were reportedly harassing customers outside of Harvest Foods, with one even attempting to get in someone’s car. An officer found the men as described to him on a bench across from the casino on Birch Street. One of them, wanted on a warrant, was arrested and taken to Okanogan County Jail.

5/16 - Workers at the sewage treatment plant construction site reported that welding tanks, hose, and copper feed had been stolen from the site, estimated to be worth about $1,000.
