Grand Coulee

5/7 - An officer picked up a Hickory Farms box with tobacco, rolling papers, and an odor of marijuana from the alternative school after the principal reported finding it in one of the “community rooms.” The box and its contents were destroyed.

- An officer told a woman over the phone how to file a complaint against another officer who handled a case a week prior in a way the woman was not happy about.

5/8 - A driver on Spokane Way was pulled over for having a vehicle registration that expired in March. The young man was cited for driving without insurance.

- A Grand Coulee officer transported a prisoner, at the request of the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, from North Dam Park to a Grant County deputy at milepost 8 on SR-155, from where the deputy would take the suspect to jail.

5/10 - Police and fire department volunteers responded when a handicapped woman’s scooter ran out of battery power at Colorama. They got her home.

5/11 - Police took a juvenile runaway subject into custody at North Dam Park. Colville Tribal Police met them in Nespelem for transport to the mother further north.

- A man on Goodfellow Avenue found a black Labrador dog with a camo collar in his yard. After an officer attempted unsuccessfully to find an owner, and because police had no facility for holding the dog, the man agreed to hold it and post it to Facebook to try to find an owner.

- A woman went to jail after she allegedly threw a rock through a living room window on Banks Avenue, accusing kids inside of stealing her guns. The woman, charged with second-degree malicious mischief, was first treated at Coulee Medical Center for lacerations on her arms from the broken glass.

- Police tried to help a man find his cell phone, which he’d lost at Colorama about 10 p.m. and which had pinged a location in Nespelem, then later in Grand Coulee. An hour after its last ping, the officer told him to contact them if he got another signal from it.

- Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Partello Street, where a man and woman had fought over use of a bathroom. No arrest was made.

- Police put an injured deer out of its pain at SR-174 and Federal Avenue about 9 p.m.

- A Spokane driver was cited for speeding 55 mph in a 35-mph zone at SR-174 and F Street.

5/12 - Police arrested a man on a bicycle on Alcan Road near the rodeo grounds. The man was wanted on a warrant from Grant County Superior Court for failure to appear in court.

- Police responded to a report of an argument on Burdin Boulevard at 4:44 a.m. A man had taken a woman’s keys, saying she was too intoxicated to drive home. She agreed not to drive until she sobered up, and he left on foot.

- A man on Main Street reported a man outside his apartment yelling at about 3 a.m. A man outside told police he’d heard the noise and a man took off on foot. Police couldn’t find anyone, but a short while later a second anonymous call reported the problem again. Still no one was found, but a neighbor said he thought the noise was coming from the first witness’ apartment. The caller wouldn’t answer the door.

- Police responded to Banks Lake Pub, where a man was on the ground bleeding. Witnesses said he and his wife had stumbled, but two men thought he’d pushed her and ran to assist her. When they pulled him off her, he fell backward and hit his head. When loaded into an ambulance, the man broke a strap buckle, which struck an ambulance crew member. He was “escorted to the ground” by two officers and placed in restraints until he calmed down. He was treated at the hospital and released.
