Tennis moves on to postseason

Raider tennis players are competing in the league tournament in Omak following matches in Chelan and Creston.

In Chelan April 30, the Raider girls lost 5-0, and the Raider boys lost 4-1.

“We were pretty much dominated by the best team we’ve faced this year, Chelan,” Raider Head Coach Steve Archer said. “The one huge, big, bright spot was at boys’ first doubles. Terry Yazzie and Tucker Keeley won at 8-5. They are playing their best doubles of the season, which is perfect timing headed into postseason play.”

The Raiders competed on the road against Wilbur-Creston May 2, where the boys’ team won 4-0 while the girls lost 3-2.

Further stats were unavailable at deadline.

The league tournament is being held this week, with the first games played on Monday, and continuing today in Omak at the North Cascades Athletic Club starting at noon.

“The top four places advance to the District 6 tournament on May 15 and 18 at the North Shore Racket Club on Lake Chelan and will play off against the top four places from the A League,” Archer explained.
