Raiders defeat Shockers

The Raiders defeated the Waterville Shockers 7-1 after jumping out ahead in early innings April 23.

The Raiders got on the board in the second inning when Nick Baker stole home plate as a pitch got away from the Shocker catcher.

Cameron St. Pierre stole home later that same inning from another error.

Brit Egbert scored a run for Lake Roosevelt in the third inning, and Egbert, Hunter Whitelaw, Tanner Whitelaw, and Malachai Rasmussen each brought a runner home in the fourth.

Egbert, Tyson Nicholson, and St. Pierre all pitched in the game, striking out a combined 10 Shockers throughout the game.

"They all pitched well," Head Coach Billy Nicholson said. "It was a good team win."

The Raiders narrowly lost an away game against Ritzville April 26 with a final score of 6-3, when LR scored one run in each of the third, fifth, and sixth innings.

The Raiders played an away game against Waterville on April 29, defeating the Shockers again 16-0. LR scored seven runs in the first inning, which saw Tyson Nicholson hitting a triple in the first inning, and Joe Donn hitting a homer.


The Raiders scored one more in the second, five in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth.

Raider pitcher Hunter Whitelaw struck out five Shocker batters, Trevon Johnson struck out two, and Nicholson struck out three in the shutout.

The Raiders will host Manson tomorrow, May 2, in a doubleheader in Coulee Dam, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Another doubleheader follows on May 7 in Bridgeport starting at 3 p.m.
