Some campgrounds on lake won’t have pump water

Due to changes in Washington State Department of Health well water monitoring regulations for wells under surface water influence, water will not be available at any campground in the Lake Roosevelt Recreation Area with hand water pumps during the 2019 summer season. The National Park Service says this affects water availability at eight campgrounds at Kettle River, Snag Cove, North Gorge, Marcus Island, Kamloops Island, Cloverleaf, Hawk Creek, and Haag Cove.

“The NPS is currently evaluating the situation to find the best solution for the future,” a press release said. “If you plan on camping at any of the campgrounds listed above this summer, please make sure to bring water from home.”
