Raiders head to state tourney

The Raiders lost their regional playoff game on Saturday, but will play in the first round of state today (Wednesday) for a chance to play in the next round on Thursday.
The Raiders lost to the top-ranked Kittitas Coyotes 76-45 Saturday.
The Raiders scored eight unanswered points to start the game, and led 18-12 at the end of the first.
But the Coyotes, led by Gonzaga-bound Brock Ravet, took the lead in the second quarter and ran away with it.
Ravet is Washington state's all-time leading scorer in high school basketball, and made it to the 3,000-point mark during the game with a routine free throw.
"Brock Ravet hit some big shots, shots that no one else in 2B can really hit," Raider Head Coach Jeremy Crollard said. "After he hit some of those, and the effort our guys were putting in to stop it, I think it affected them a bit. I think part of it had to do with playing them back-to-back weekends, having to play the number-one team twice in a row."
But the tough competition against Kittitas could be helpful in today's game.
"It can only benefit us," Crollard said. "Like we said after the game, from that type of game you just have to move on and look forward, and that's what we've been doing."
The number-eight ranked Raiders play today (Wednesday) against the number-nine ranked Liberty High School team at the Spokane Arena at 2 p.m.
"They're a big physical team, well coached, and it's going to be a battle," Crollard said, adding that they were able to watch a little bit of film of the Liberty team. "I think we have an advantage with our guards. They have a big 6-7 kid, and a couple 6-4, so they look to really pound the ball in. So we have to play really physical underneath the hoop. They don't look to shoot many threes so we hope to force them to shoot outside shots."
A victory would mean the Raiders would play the number-seven Life Christian Academy Thursday, also at 2 p.m., also at Spokane Arena.
