Grand Coulee

12/4 - A man appearing to be heavily intoxicated urinated on himself at Safeway and was given a courtesy ride by an officer.

- A student was caught with marijuana at the former middle school in Grand Coulee. Possession charges were forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor’s office.

- A woman at the senior center asked police to take a man someplace warm. The officer told her they didn’t have a warm place to take him. The woman said they would let him stay until they closed.

- An estimated $200 in damage was done to a door that had been kicked in on Grand Ave. A man working on the house noticed it had been kicked in, and there was a clear footprint on the door. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

- A Grand Coulee man reported that his tools had been stolen from a Goodfellow residence where he was letting a woman borrow them to fix up her home. The tools, valued at $799, included saws and chargers. The woman’s son said he had taken the tools for a job in Nespelem, which the man said he did not have permission to do. The man said he has been trying to get his tools back since about Nov. 26.


- A man reported a suspicious person with a flashlight in a neighbor’s yard, the subject was someone allowed to be there.

12/5 - A man smoking a cigarette by the former middle school near Federal and Weil reported that a car driving fast had nearly hit him and a friend, did not stop at stop signs, and that the car was at Flo’s Cafe. An officer didn’t see anyone in the restaurant matching the description given by the complainant.

- A suspicious vehicle was reported as having been parked in the triangle in the intersection in front of Electric City Hall for several days. An officer found the engine running idle and the windows still frosted when the driver arrived and drove away.

- An unidentified caller reported a vehicle with an “X” over each tail light driving erratically and fast, heading toward Les Schwab. No record was found by searching the reported license plate number, and the vehicle wasn’t found.

- A vehicle reported as suspicious near First and B Street was found to be parked on private property and not parked illegally.

- A man was cited for driving 51 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on SR.-174 near E Street.

- A man was taken to Grant County Jail on a warrant after being spotted at Banks Lake Pub.

12/6 - A man was cited for driving with a suspended license. It took the man a while to pull over, and the officer used his siren, with the man finally pulling over at the overlook area just below Grand Coulee Dam and saying, “I didn’t see you at first.”

- A woman reported a suspicious person leaning on her fence at Goodfellow and Crest. After not seeing anybody, police concluded she was seeing her fence through tall grass and weeds.

- A Crest Ave. man reported things stolen from his house, including a laptop and change jar, and that the spare key was missing from its usual spot.

12/7 - A white Chevy pickup collided with a black Volkswagen sedan near Jack’s Spring Canyon gas station on SR-174. The driver of the sedan had a head injury and was confused, not remembering the incident. The driver of the truck reportedly had been turning into the gas station and didn’t see the sedan there. Both vehicles were towed.

- An officer assisted Colville Tribal Police with traffic control during a funeral procession.

- A man reported his Harley-Davidson motorcycle stolen from the detached garage at his Stevens Ave. home. He said the bike won’t start without the fob key near it. It was taken sometime between Dec. 5 and Dec. 7.

- A woman reported that some kids had thrown eggs at her home on Weil and she just wanted the eggs cleaned up. The mother of the children said they would clean it up.

- A Park Ave. woman reported that someone had broken into her house. She noticed the bar at the bottom of her sliding glass door had been removed, but nothing was missing. She saw someone with a zig-zag swirl on their sweatshirt near her fence. She had been gone only half an hour running an errand before returning home and seeing things amiss.

12/8 - A Mead Ave. man reported hearing loud explosions near the Almira Hill. Lincoln County had approved a Spring Canyon area resident to light fireworks.

12/9 - Residents at the apartments on Hill Ave. were threatening to beat each other up. No charges were filed and one resident agreed to talk to the apartment manager.

Coulee Dam

12/2 - Those involved in a traffic accident at Lake Roosevelt Schools were given collision reports to fill out.

- A garage door was open at a Pine St. residence. The windows and doors were secure. The daughter of the owner didn’t see anything missing.

12/4 - A witness said they saw a student pass marijuana candies to another student who said he ate them. Marijuana, a pipe, a vape pen, and more candies were confiscated. Three girls smoked marijuana in the school bathroom. One said she just wanted to try it. Another said it helps her calm down.

12/5 - A burglar alarm went off at city hall. All doors and windows were secured and police left.

12/6 - There was a two-vehicle collision with no injury on Mead Way.

- A man wanted to know if a store employee was single. The employee’s coworker messaged the man and said that the employee was in a relationship. The man then sent a threatening message to the coworker.

12/7 - While on his way to work, an officer came across a collision near Jack’s Spring Canyon gas station in Grand Coulee. The officer helped with traffic control while Grand Coulee Police worked the collision. He left once the vehicles were moved off the road.

- A Cedar Street man reported a possible burglary at a neighbor’s house when he saw a man approach the house, check the door and windows, then jump over the fence into the backyard. The house was found to be secure. No one saw the man leave the property to determine which way he went.

- A man was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of River Drive and Roosevelt Way.

12/7-12/8 - A woman was cited for driving to the left of the center line when she turned from Roosevelt Way onto Columbia, where there is a left-hand turn lane and the woman reportedly drove with half of her vehicle in that turn lane after turning. The next day a man was cited for the same thing, reportedly driving entirely into the turn lane. The man said that he “did not do that” and “would never do that.” The officer said he wouldn’t be talking to him if he hadn’t seen him do it.
