The Lady Raiders defeated the Waterville-Mansfield Lady Shockers as well as the Tonasket Lady Tigers last week as they prepare for districts.

On Oct. 16 in Waterville, the Lady Raiders won a close 3-2 match, 25-17, 19-25, 26-24, 19-25, and 15-9.

"Addie Hansen had a great game one and game five," said Head Coach Teri Sue Reed about the athlete. "Without her senior leadership stepping up, we would have lost. She really came through for her team."

Reed also noted "strong serving" from Raven Clark as a factor in the Lady Raiders victory.

Hosting the Tonasket Lady Tigers Oct. 18, the Lady Raiders won in three sets: 25-18, 25-20, and 25-22.

"We played pretty well," Reed said. "Mikaylah Thompson again had a standout performance with 13 kills and 10 of 12 from the service line."

From here, the Lady Raiders, with a league win-loss record of 5-2, and 9-3 overall, are third in their league as they move on to district play.

The team will move on to the first round of the district tournament in Royal City Thursday, then again a week later for the second round.

"If we win two before we lose two, we are off to state at the SunDome in Yakima," coach Reed said.

Reed is focusing on tightening up the Lady Raiders' gameplay as they move onto the postseason.

"It's very frustrating to see them make simple mistakes," Reed said. "I have been shifting their focus back to making smart plays. They need to realize that they don't have to take a full swing if the set isn't there. There's so many options other than hitting."
