Lightning struck, and the Raider football team demolished the Tonasket Tigers in a game that took two days to complete.

The Raiders were winning 12-0 in Tonasket on Friday, Sept. 7, when the game was called due to weather after a two-hour lightning delay.

With about nine minutes left in the second quarter, the game started back up on Monday, Sept. 10.

The Raiders racked up an additional 36 points on Monday, making for a final score of 48-0.

"We had great defense and special-teams play," said Coach Tim Rasmussen about the victory. "Tonasket had a hard time moving the ball."

The Raider defense held the Tigers to only one first down in the game.

"Our defense stayed disciplined, came up with some big team stops," Rasmussen said.

On special teams, Tony Nichols returned a punt 43 yards for a touchdown in one of the game's biggest moments. Nichols also had a 10-yard rushing touchdown.

Wide receiver Sam Wapato caught two touchdowns, one each from quarterbacks Steven Flowers and Hunter Whitelaw.

Kaleb Horn was also on the receiving end of a touchdown pass from Whitelaw.

The Raiders are scheduled to play the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions at home in Coulee Dam this Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
