Ross receives PEO scholarship

Lucy Ross is the 2018 recipient of the $500.00 scholarship awarded by local Chapter DG of P.E.O. International.  The scholarship application process includes a review of the applicant’s academic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, and educational goals. 

Lucy, a graduate of Wilbur-Creston High School plans to attend the University of Washington and earn a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Education with the hope of becoming a High School English teacher. 

While maintaining her perfect 4.0, Lucy has been on the WCHS Golf team, participated in choir and band, and the Knowledge Bowl team,.  Outside of school Lucy has received the Bronze Award in girl Scouts, is active in her church and served her community by representing Wilbur in 2017 as Miss Wilbur.  She is also an assistant student teacher at her ballet studio in Spokane. 

P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization that was founded in 1869 for the purpose of promoting educational opportunities for women through financial assistance in the form of scholarships, grants and loans.  The local P.E.O. Chapter DG was established in 1947.
