The Lady Raiders played in two doubleheaders last week against Okanogan and Brewster.

In Grand Coulee on April 12, the Lady Raiders fell victim to the Lady Bulldogs in both games, 19-1 in the first, and 13-3 in the second.

On Friday the 13th, the Lady Raiders traveled to Brewster to take on the Brewster Bears. A 12-2 loss in the first game due to LR errors led into a close 3-2 victory for LR in the second game.

"Brewster was a fight for us, they are a well executed team, which we knew going into it," said LR Head Coach Alissa Mansker.

In the second game, LR scored one run in the first inning off a hit from Khani Priest. Defensively, LR kept Brewster from scoring for the first six innings.

"In both the sixth and seventh innings, Brewster loaded the bases," Mansker said. "We held them to no score in the sixth, and only allowed two to score in the seventh inning."

Mansker said Kayla St. Pierre made the game-securing play to the catcher Mikaylah Thompson for the third out in the seventh that stopped Brewster's would-be game-tying runner from reaching home.

Mansker continued to describe the defensive accomplishments of the Lady Raiders: "Chasity Reyes had a wonderful double play off a slap in the infield. Kayla St. Pierre also made an excellent double play with an amazing snag in left field that looked uncatchable to most of us, from the wind, and she was able to jump and stretch and snag it to throw to second for a double play. Khani Priest also had a very crucial snag of a hard grounder up the middle for the third out with bases loaded."

Between the two games, Mansker told her players that they had to "dig deep and find it within themselves to fight."

Lake Roosevelt played yesterday at home against Pateros, results of which will be reported on in next week's Star.

They host the Tonasket Tigers in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21, at home in Grand Coulee, with the first game slated for 11 a.m.

They play in Waterville April 24, at 4:30 p.m. against the Lady Shockers.
