Spillway Lighting Is Assured During Summer: The Popular spillway program at the Grand Coulee Dam is assured for the 1978 visitor season. That assurance came from the Bureau’s Regional Office in Boise, Idaho, advising that water and power conditions this year make the spillway program possible. Inadequate run-off in water-short 1977 caused cancellation of the program last year.

Bullets Hit: A bullet entered through the window of a mobile home in Earl’s Trailer Court. Apparently fired from persons shooting across the river, the bullet ricocheted, hitting the window. No injuries were reported.

Strike Closes Powerplant Construction: The job at the third powerplant here was closed down Monday due to the strike of the District Council of Laborers. The group voted to quit after negotiations with the Associated General Contractors failed to gain a request for a $1.65 per hour increase asked over the next three years. The Laborers also asked for health and welfare payments. Current wages are $3.50 per hour for general labor and $3.95 for power men.

C.D. School Levy Vote: The Board of Directors of the Coulee Dam School District has recommended a special school levy to provide funds for school enrollment expansion. We feel it will be necessary to lease from six to eight relocatable classrooms for the 1968-69 school year.
