The Red Hot Mamas are revvin’ up to bring the party to the Grand Coulee area and several Northwest events this year, and are looking for vivacious, fun-loving women to join in their comedy presentations. The group originated in 1991 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. For 27 years, these zany women have been “dedicated to the exploitation of merriment and the enhancement of the ridiculous.” The Red Hot Mamas is a dance/service group comprised of colorful women with a zest for life from ages 18 to infinity. The Red Hot Mamas were last seen performing at the 2017 Macy’s Parade on Thanksgiving Day in New York City, and have performed in London, England, and at two Presidential Inaugurations, winning awards nationwide.

The Grand Coulee Red Hot Mamas will hold local rehearsals weekly, with routine rehearsals combined with the Coeur d’Alene and Spokane Valley units as necessary prior to events.

The 2018-2019 Mama season will focus on Northwest comedy performances, celebrating their crazy antics and irrepressible “joie de vivre.” Roles are available for dancers, actresses, banner babes, and technical support teams. Women of all ages, sizes, abilities, and hairstyles are encouraged to “come out to play.”

Auditions will be held Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Grand Coulee Senior Center, 203 Main Street, Grand Coulee. Lunch will be available with a donation to the Seniors Meals Program. Wear workout apparel, as auditions include a 40-minute dance class led by Mamas’ president and creator, Mikki Stevens. Audition fee is $10.

Members enjoy lending a helping hand in monthly community service projects and performing comedy routines to promote laughter and smiles.
