The Lady Raiders started their softball season with a string of solid wins, defeating Oroville before winning both games of a doubleheader with Bridgeport.

Against the Lady Hornets of Oroville on March 20, the Lady Raiders played to a large home crowd and didn't disappoint the fans, winning 20-3.

"Defensively, Maddie Toulou made three excellent plays," remarked Head Coach Alissa Mansker. "Kelsie Olbricht hit a triple to the fence and Khani Priest hit a walk-off home run to end the game. Our pitching excelled as well in this game."

The Bridgeport Fillies came to Grand Coulee on Friday, March 23, and lost to the Lady Raiders in both games of a doubleheader.

LR won 19-0 in the first game, in part due to Gloria Michel pitching a no-hitter.

"Gloria Michel threw a perfect ... first game against Bridgeport, being a shut-out no-hitter." Mansker said. "This means that she didn't walk anyone and no one gained a hit off of her, nor reached base. She did an excellent job at the mound."

The Lady Raiders carried the momentum into the second game, winning 18-2.

"I had Scotti Adolph at the mound and Emma Warnecke, who pitched well," Mansker said. "Overall, our base running and offense was fantastic throughout the game. Hitting, we had great hits all throughout both games."

The Lady Raiders played yesterday with Oroville, results of which will be reported in next week's Star.

They play in Liberty Bell against the Lady Mountain Lions in a doubleheader on March 31, with the first game scheduled for 11 a.m.
