Annual Easter egg hunt set

The town of Elmer City will hold its third annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 1.

Morin said that anyone who wants to volunteer to help hide the eggs can call town hall at 633-2872.

The hunt starts at 1 p.m. The eggs will be placed in the town’s park prior to the hunt. Kids of all ages are invited to come and take part.

Court looking for volunteer bailiffs

Grant County Superior Court is seeking volunteer bailiffs to help guide and familiarize jurors during jury trials.

Volunteer bailiffs are paid $10 per day plus mileage (outside city limits). This is a good opportunity for people to help the community understand the criminal justice process, the court suggested in a press release.

For more information contact the Court Administrator’s Office: Mindi Finke at 754-2011 ext. 4144 or Crystal Burns at 754-2011 ext. 4178.

County licensing moves

The Okanogan County Auditor’s office, including the vehicle and vessel licensing department, will move to new hours beginning April 2. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The title and licensing counter is now located in the main Auditor’s Office, room 104 on the first floor of the courthouse.

Brewster man shoots mother, himself

A 19-year-old man in Brewster shot his mother in the mouth before shooting himself to death Sunday morning, Okanogan County Sheriff Frank T. Rogers said in a press release.

Rogers said it appeared that Mike Aguirre-Bobadilla had been at home with his mother and 10-year-old sister when he shot his mother in the mouth area. She was able to flee to a neighbor’s home with her daughter.

Sheriff deputies and Brewster police found the shooter inside “with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” He died at Three Rivers Hospital. His mother was airlifted to Sacred Heart in Spokane.
