Police

3/12 - A man on Gold Avenue in Electric City told a nearby neighbor that the reason he was in his driveway was because he had been forced out of his home by a group of 10-12 small children. After questioning the man, the officer suggested that he go to Coulee Medical Center for possible help. The man agreed and was taken to the hospital for examination. Adult Protective Services was advised of the problem.

- Police were advised by dispatch that a 911 call was made from the hospital. The officer checked there and couldn’t find out who made the call.

- A man on Young Street told police that when he tried to cash his IRS tax return check at a store in Ephrata, there was trouble with his Social Security number. He stated that he thought someone was using his SS number. The officer advised him to contact Social Security authorities.

- At the request of the hospital, an officer helped a woman subject to falling getting into her apartment.

3/13 - A city employee advised police of a loose dog in the vicinity of Park Avenue and Lincoln Avenue in Electric City. The area was patrolled but the dog couldn’t be found.

3/14 - A Keller driver was cited for an expired registration, and the officer found that he had neither a driver’s license nor identification on his person. The man was instructed to find a licensed driver to take charge of the vehicle before it was moved.

- A Nespelem woman advised police that she had recovered her vehicle, which had been found between some rocks in the Delano area. She was advised to inform tribal police so they would know that it had been found.

- A Burdin Boulevard woman wanted on a felony warrant was seen walking on Midway Avenue and was detained. After confirming the warrant, police took her to Grant County jail.

3/16 - A Moses Lake driver was cited for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for changing lanes a couple of times without signaling. The vehicle didn’t move until a licensed driver arrived to take charge of it.

- A Leavenworth woman backed into a car driven by a Nespelem woman in front of Coulee Hardware. The two exchanged insurance information.

- USBR Plant Protection advised police that a subject was walking near the top of the dam and appeared to be “under the weather.” Police found a man walking on the sidewalk who had been banned from bureau property. The officer reminded the man to stay off bureau property and the man argued that his attorney had advised him that he wasn’t banned from government property. The officer told the man that he was misinformed and to stay on the sidewalk.

- A Grand Coulee woman called dispatch to complain of what she thought was animal cruelty. She said a dog was confined in a truck at Safeway and was panting. The officer checked the temperature at the site and stated in his report that it was 51 degrees, cloudy and the window was slightly ajar. He could not detect any animal cruelty and called the reporting party. The woman who complained stated she was disappointed in the officer’s assessment.

- A man who complained of chest pains at Spring Canyon campground was assisted into an ambulance, taken to Coulee Medical Center, and later flown to Spokane for treatment.

3/17 - Police stopped a Nespelem driver for driving at night without his lights on. The officer found that he was driving while his license was suspended. The driver said he was driving his brother, who was passed out in the rear seat, home. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.

- An officer noticed two men walking on Federal Avenue, both known to be wanted on warrants for their arrest. The officer arrested the pair and took them to Grant County jail.

- Police went to a Burdin Boulevard address where a minor girl and her mother were in a verbal dispute. No physical contact had been made.

- An Elmer City driver stopped and cited for not having license plates or proper registration. The vehicle was towed and impounded.

3/18 - A man on Kelso Avenue in Electric City told police that someone had stolen a propane tank and some loose change from an unlocked vehicle.

3/19 - A Coulee Dam woman was notified that a vehicle she owned was parked near the tennis court at North Dam Park. She was informed that the vehicle needed to be moved within 24 hours. The owner advised the officer that she ran out of gas and was waiting for payday to get money to buy gas.
