Thomas Victor Edwards, 82, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Grand Coulee, Washington. He was born November 16, 1934, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He lived in Wilmington for 26 years.

Tom married Barbara Fay (Scoggins) and they were married June 11, 1954.

Tom served in the United States Coast Guard for 13 years, serving as a cook, military police, and holding the rank of First Class Boatswain Mate.

Tom attended Washington State College in Pullman, Washington, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.

He served as a police officer for over 21 years, was chief of police in Davenport for four years and also for the Town of Coulee Dam, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the Masons, Eastern Star, American Legion, Shriners, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a board member of Coulee Medical Center for 16 years.

His hobbies included golf, stamp and coin collecting.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years; his daughter, Deborah Lyn Mauss, of Coulee Dam, Washington; sons: Thomas Victor Edwards Jr., of Seaside, Oregon; Ralph Wesley Edwards, of Coulee Dam; Ernest Noal Edwards, of Spokane Valley, Washington; three sisters: Doris Long of North Carolina, Ellen Futrell of Florida and Jackie Ward of North Carolina; 12 grandchilden and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Edwards; three sisters: Minnie Farrcloth, Margaret Butler, and Mary Tartl; and two brothers: Charles Edwards and George Edwards.

A family memorial service is planned for this summer.
