Jeremy Miller was unanimously selected last Tuesday night to fill the vacancy on the Electric City council.

He was one of three candidates that submitted a letter of interest in serving on the council to replace Brad Parrish who resigned about six weeks ago.

Others who submitted letters were Ken Anderson and Lisa Lyngar, who attended Tuesday night’s meeting.

After council members selected Miller, Mayor John Nordine II thanked Anderson and Lyngar for their interest and said that the city often seeks local residents to serve on committees. He suggested they retain their interest in serving the city and volunteer for positions when they become vacant.

Miller, 34, has three children and lives on Sunset Drive. He has lived in the area his entire life, and is a graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School where he was president of the Associated Student Body.

The new councilman is a graduate of Washington State University with a bachelor of science degree in Wildland Recreation Management with a minor in criminal justice.

After his WSU degree, Miller graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in 2000.

Miller became a law enforcement officer with the National Park Service, and served until 2012 in the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

He currently serves in the Grand Coulee Dam Power office as a carpenter in jobs that involve wood repair and concrete work.

He was sworn in last Tuesday night by Mayor Nordine.
