Voting not to play

Three-card Monte, what a wild game that is.

In my 60 years I have learned a few things. One thing I learned is that there are only two possible winners for that game. The first possible winner is the people running the game, they control the deck, they make the rules and they have a couple goons ready to pummel any victim that objects to losing money.

The only other possible winner, is the people who refuse to play that game.

This is exactly why I have chosen not to participate in our political process.

I don’t expect everyone to agree with my choice. But as a veteran, I expect you to respect my choice. I earned that.

I am certain that many people will insist that I MUST vote, as if the reason the game is rigged is because I refused to play.

The truth is that I did vote, I am voting. I am voting to reject and deny the legitimacy of our political process.

Many are likely to insist that we don’t have any option, as if the system we use could not be improved. Perhaps they cannot imagine a system of decision processes that properly administers the will of the people. That does not mean that one cannot be developed, nor does it mean that we should not try.

Until that time as we have a rational decision process for public policy, I am voting.

I vote “NO.”

Enjoy what ya can, endure what ya have to, hope the rest don’t kill ya!

Mike Anderson
