Jacob (Jake) Fischer died in his home in Spokane, Washington, before November 27, 2016. He was 42.

He was born September 29, 1974, to Sheri Rae Edwards Fischer and Robert Erwin Fischer in Spokane.

He graduated from Lake Roosevelt High School in 1993, moved to Spokane and started his construction contracting business, in which he earned a solid reputation for perfection. Jake took great pride in any endeavor he undertook.

He and Autumn Sherman married in 1994 and had two daughters, Allison and Ashlyn.

With his typical zeal, Jake took up dirt biking, spending as much time as he could learning maneuvers and tricks. One day in 2005, with the wind against him, he miscalculated a landing and severed his spine, paralyzing him from the lower chest down.

Even bound to a wheelchair, Jake never stopped pushing at his boundaries. Instead of motorcycles, he worked at the mechanically-technical sport of Jeep crawling, conquering slopes and rocks with friends gathered for that purpose in camping expeditions or off-road vehicle parks.

Pain management was a major focus since his accident, and after conquering an addiction to opioid medicines, in recent years he shunned them, determined to rely on lesser remedies and his own will power with mixed results.

Still pushing boundaries, Jake dove headlong into a study of the metaphysical, writing on his own website and YouTube channel on "Divine Willpower," which reached hundreds of thousands of views by people seeking his take on the nature of reality.

He is survived by his daughters: Allison Fischer, of Kirkland, Washington, and Ashlyn Fischer, of Snohomish, Washington; his mother, Sheri Edwards (Scott Hunter) of Coulee Dam, Washington; his father, Robert Fischer (Kellie Fischer), of Spokane; his brothers: Greg Fischer, of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, and David Fischer, Michael Fischer, Richard Fischer and Steven Fischer, all of Spokane, Washington; and stepsisters Heather Bonifield, of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Sara Wells, of Snohomish, Washington.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, December 9, at the Salvation Army Chapel in Spokane, 222 East Indiana Avenue. Flowers may be sent before noon Friday to Spokane Cremation, 2832 N.
