Just for fun, racers will get splashed with colored cornflower at the finish line. Those who don't want the color will go through a separate finish line.

Here's an opportunity to run, or walk, for fun and a good cause.

It's Saturday's "Color Me Pink and Purple Fun Run," a breast cancer awareness run and walk.

Registration is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the walk and run scheduled for 10:30.

Participants in the 3K event will begin at Coulee Medical Center, go to North Dam Park and back to CMC.

Pink and purple corn flour will be tossed onto finishers who want to be "colored" for the event. Guild officials said those who want to be colored should wear cotton clothes and bring a towel.

Others experienced in such events also suggest bringing a sheet or a beach towel to cover the seat in your car.

The cost of the run is $15, and all proceeds will be used locally for breast health and awareness projects.

After the run, the hospital will offer a hot dog lunch, including chips and a drink, for $5. Participants are asked to bring their cameras, because a photo area will be available.

Guild President Clea Pryor said 70 had pre-registered by Monday. She expects a large number will register Saturday at 9:30, just before the event starts.

All participants will receive a swag bag. Those who choose to be "colored" for the event will get a ticket for a drawing for a gift basket worth over $100.

The project is sponsored by the Hospital Guild, the radiology department, and Omni.
