You just bought a bag of fireworks and are wondering where you can set them off. Here’s your answer:

Fireworks are banned from the Colville Tribes’ reservation this year. Likewise in Elmer City and Coulee Dam. Fireworks are also banned in the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

You can let fireworks off in Electric City if you adhere to the state law covering fireworks.

In Grand Coulee, North Dam is still open to fireworks, subject to fire department approval; anywhere else in the city is off limits.

The Colville Tribes on June 17 issued a complete ban on both the selling of fireworks and on lighting them off. The ban applies to tribal lands and associated waterways.

It is unlawful to even possess fireworks at all times in the LRNRA, which, together with the tribal ban, means just about all of Lake Roosevelt is off limits.

If you see someone set off fireworks on the Colville Indian Reservation, you are asked to report it by calling 509-634-2472. If you see someone setting off fireworks in the LRNRA, you are asked to call 509-725-3501.

People setting off fireworks on top of North Dam are asked to clean up their debris before they leave.

North Dam on Banks Lake has become a traditional site for local fireworks and the area is even prescribed in a city ordinance as the only place they are allowed.
