Two fifth graders from the “highly capable” program made presentations before the Grand Coulee Dam School District board Monday night and held members spellbound with their subjects and quick wit.

Dustin Bertrang and Lilly Button had earlier, along with others from the group, made presentations to third graders.

The two researched and developed their information, wrote it out, and delivered their subjects as well as any presentations during the evening.

“Those are hard acts to follow,” commented the next presenter before the board, Athletic Director Richard Black.

Bertrand’s topic was climbing Mount Olympus, and Button spoke on her subject, “The Rain Forest.”

School board members peppered the two with questions, which were readily answered.

Cathy Krohn heads up the highly capable program.
