Officers from Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Secret Service Thursday initiated their second Grand Coulee raid within the past three weeks, this time on a house at 409 A Street.

Officers recovered several items that had earlier been taken in a burglary on Wetzel Street in Grand Coulee.

Officers served a search warrant after investigators developed information that Melvin Toulou, 43, had been storing stolen property at the house.

Toulou had been arrested Feb. 12, when his home was raided and officers found evidence of stolen goods, also related to the burglary of the William “Moe” Evans’ home on Wetzel.

Found at the Toulou residence on Burdin Boulevard was Evans’ passport and several items identified as being taken from the Evans’ home. Toulou was arrested on stolen goods and miscellaneous drug charges. A future possible charge of counterfeiting was indicated at the time. Toulou was booked at Grant County jail but was released on $5,000 bail. Charges of trafficking stolen property, defrauding a public utility and forgery will be filed against Toulou, officials said, after the A Street raid.

The episode developed when a $200 utility bill for the A Street residence was paid by a check taken from the Evans home.

Arrested on unrelated warrants out of Grant and Adams counties at the A Street raid was Selena Adrian, 28, who was taken to Grant County Jail. However, a check of the jail Tuesday showed that she had been released.

In addition to the stolen property, detectives reported recovering narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and weapons at the A Street residence.

Kyle Foreman, public information officer for Grant County Sheriff’s Office, said Tuesday that the investigation continues.
