Police

12/1 - A man left his phone in the restroom at Safeway, but it was gone when he returned for it an hour later. He asked to see the store security video but was told it was against store policy. The police planned to follow up.

- A school employee reported that graffiti had been painted on Center School. Police took a picture of the graffiti.

- A person reported to police that there was an abandoned wheelchair east of town and clothing was scattered around. Police couldn’t find any person nearby but recorded that someone had apparently defecated on shoes nearby and on the clothing.

- Coulee Hardware advised police that a man from Ford, Washington had rented an auto dolly and hadn’t returned it on time. Numerous attempts to get the dolly failed, hardware officials told police.

- A Grand Coulee man reported that someone had hit his vehicle while it was parked at Electric City Bar & Grill.

12/2 - Police responded to an alarm at La Presa Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant was checked and no one was inside. The alarm was reset.

12/4 - A woman on A Street is being charged for malicious mischief and third-degree theft after a lock the city crew had put on her water for non-payment was found cut off, with bolt cutters and a hacksaw nearby. The woman insisted that she didn’t turn the water back on but acknowledged she let some friends know about the water being turned off.

- A woman from Camas Street in Coulee Dam called to report her 17-year-old daughter had run away again. The daughter has a warrant out for her for truancy out of Okanogan County.

- Police checked on a 911 hang-up call at Safeway. There was a malfunction of a phone.

- A person on Roosevelt Drive reported that there was someone walking around the residence and looking in windows. Police are stepping up patrols in the area.

12/5 - An Elmer City woman was cited when an officer noticed her license tabs had expired in November 2014.

- An officer responded to a rollover accident on the Almira hill. A woman and two children were in the vehicle and were taken to Coulee Medical Center for observation.

- A man was cited at a residence on West Grand Avenue in Electric City after the woman residing there told police that he kept trying to get into her house. He was cited for criminal trespass.

12/6 - Police had a call that there was a dead deer on the roadway at SR 174 and A Street. An officer removed the deer from the roadway.

- Police gave a man a warning for spinning his tires at the grain elevators and for not having tail lights.

12/7 - A Grand Coulee woman asked police to increase patrols near her house. She said the house is vacant and anyone they found inside should be prosecuted.

12/1 - A man who moved from Cedar Street to a home in Wilbur reported than when boxes were unpacked he was missing three Samsung tablets, a Canon Camera, and two Halloween costumes. The loss amounted to $1,632.88, he told police. He reported that two neighbors had keys to his Coulee Dam house.

- Three students from Lake Roosevelt High School were questioned and then sent home after an odor of marijuana was noticed on them when they returned to the school from a lunch break. All three refused to go to Coulee Medical Center to determine whether they had been smoking pot.

- Police stopped a vehicle for driving too close behind a patrol car. The driver got a verbal warning for that offense and for not having his driver’s license on his person and because he was in violation of his intermediate license restrictions.

- Police were told that a threat had been made against the Lake Roosevelt High School girl’s basketball coach. School officials showed police the text message of the threat. The threat was made by a woman whose daughter was taken off the team.

12/2 - A stray pit bull puppy was found on Birch Street. The animal control officer for the Colville Tribes took charge of the animal.

12/3 - A driver found out that you can’t do a rolling stop out of the Credit Union onto Columbia Avenue. The officer stopped the driver and issued a warning.

12/4 - A driver got a warning after running a stop sign from the school parking lot onto Crest Drive.

- An officer looked for juveniles throwing snowballs out of Douglas Park at cars. He found one juvenile who said he went home when the other two started throwing snowballs. The officer couldn’t find the other two.

- Police noticed a man standing outside the Coulee Dam Casino known to have a warrant out for his arrest. By the time the squad car turned around, he had disappeared. The officer checked the inside of the casino but he wasn’t there.

12/5 - The man who had disappeared near the Coulee Dam Casino the previous day was seen near the Smoke Shop and arrested on a warrant out of Grant County. The search of the individual showed he had a wallet, several rocks, a lighter and a knife in his pockets. He was taken to jail.

- A Montana man driving to Omak was stopped when an officer noticed that one of his headlamps wasn’t working. The man was given a warning and told to get it fixed.

- An officer assisted a Grand Coulee officer in pursuit of a person driving a stolen car. The pursuit led to a one-way street and then a chase on foot. A man and woman had jumped from the car and run towards the Spring Canyon Apartments. A search was made but didn’t turn up the pair.
