The Lady Raiders split their volleyball matches again last week, winning on the road at Tonasket but losing at home against Brewster.

At Tonasket, the Lady Raiders came back from a first-game loss to win, three games to one.

“The girls played a complete game last night,” Head Coach Kasey Garvin said. “We were able to capitalize on our ‘out of system’ offense and come out the victor in long-volley play.”

“Jocelyn Moore and Aiyanna Picard played strong at the net,” Garvin noted, “and Kayley Duclos added some nice shots at the service line and net to finish a couple of the sets.”

Thursday night at home, the Lady Raiders had Senior Night against the Brewster Lady Bears. “Five very accomplished young ladies played their final volleyball game of their high school career last night,” Garvin said Friday. “The girls played with so much energy the entire game, and I couldn’t have been more proud of the way they played all evening.

“My seniors displayed some great leadership in each set, and Sean Garvin was able to get quality sets to the attackers due to the quality of passing in the game,” Coach Garvin added.

But an LR strong point was actually a factor in losing the match in three games, Garvin said. “Our serving is usually our strongest asset; we spend a great deal of time serving in practice. This game was the first game we served less than the 80th percentile.”

Last night, the Lady Raiders were scheduled to take on the number-one Okanogan Bulldogs for the last match of the regular season at Okanogan. Tomorrow LR travels to Pateros for tie-breaker matches to determine seeding into the District 5-6 Tournament Saturday at Ephrata. That tournament starts Saturday at 10 a.m., with the number-five team from the north league playing the number-four team from the south.
