Lady Raider Volleyball split the two matches contested last week. In the first at Bridgeport Oct. 13, the Lady Raiders lost to the Fillies three games to two. Then on Thursday at home, Lake Roosevelt defeated the Manson Trojans three games to one.

Against Bridgeport, the Lady Raiders won the first two games, then lost the last three, two of them by only two points. The fourth game went to extra points to decide the game.

"We gave them the last three sets," Head Coach Kasey Garvin said of the Tuesday match. "We still put up some great numbers from individuals, but at the end of the game, it just wasn't enough to secure the win."

The Lady Raiders were not down for long, as they rebounded against the Trojans with a win on Thursday.

Kourtney Harrington served the ace that won the match in the fourth game.

"I was impressed by my team's determination last night," Coach Garvin said. "They finished very strong and persevered after losing the second set."

Explaining the importance of the win, she continued: "Our team really needed this win, not just for postseason purposes, but for the team and individual morale. ... Overcoming a string of losses allowed my athletes to put back into perspective why they are really out there playing the game."

Last night, the Lady Raiders travelled to Tonasket to take on the Tigers. LR defeated Tonasket Sept. 24, in a three-game sweep in Coulee Dam. Tomorrow the Lady Raiders host the number-two team in the Central Washington 2B North, the Brewster Lady Bears. Brewster defeated LR at Brewster on Sept. 29 in a three-game sweep.
