The Board of Commissioners of Douglas, Grant, Lincoln and Okanogan Counties Public Hospital District #6 takes very seriously its mission to strive for the complete well-being of our community and the safety and security of those who live within our boundaries.

We, therefore, express our strong support for any legal action the Grant County Housing Authority can be encouraged to take to protect our most vulnerable populations, the elderly and the disabled, who live in the apartment complex at 211 Continental Heights, in Grand Coulee, Washington. What was at one time a safe, secure and comfortable home for low-income seniors and the disabled has become, according to residents and police, a very different type of lodging. Reports of alleged drug use and sale, frequent violence, theft and other criminal activity requiring police intervention are common.

We urge all members of our community to contact the Grant County Housing Authority, or to sign a petition that is being distributed throughout this area, to act in the best interests of our community. This is truly the only way that we can ensure that the population that needs our protection the most receives the attention and protection they deserve.
