A referendum taken June 13 to guide the Colville Business Council on whether to allow marijuana on the reservation passed with 55 percent of tribal members voting yes.

The total vote was 1,910, with 1,044 voting yes.

The yes vote carried in all four reservation districts as final absentee ballots were counted and the whole election certified late Thursday. The vote is not binding on the 14-member council, but was taken to aid the council in dealing with the issue.
