All 10 Lake Roosevelt athletes brought home medals from the WIAA 1A Track and Field Championships held at EWU, Cheney last weekend, including: Omar Fercha, 3rd, 110-meter hurdles, 15.92; Tiffany Barry, 2nd, 800-meter run, 2:21:10; Jake Atkins, 2nd, triple jump, 42 ft.1 inch; Jessica Monteagudo, Tiffiany Barry, Lachelle Ives and AdriAnn Smith, 2nd, 4x200 relay race, 1:50:18, and 8th, 4x100, 53:12; Tiffiany Barry, 5th, triple jump, 33-8; Lachelle Ives, 8th,100-meter dash,13.69; Omar Fercha, Mike Stanger, Nick Stanger, and Vernon Reyes, 6th, 1600-meter relay, 3:33:12. “Everybody got a medal, that’s something,” said Coach Gordon Proctor.

Elmer City’s mayor, Mary Jo Carey, said she is trying to get a car crushing company from Idaho to come and pick-up about 25 abandoned cars in the town, but they won’t show up unless there’s at least 100 cars. She said the towns of Coulee Dam and Grand Coulee will take part in the car round-up.

The former Whitelaw building, located across from the Colville Tribal Museum on Birch St. in Coulee Dam will soon be be the Colville Tribes’ new casino. In a letter to Coulee Dam Mayor Rod Hartman, the Colville Tribal Enterprise Corporation’s eight-member board of directors said the project was approved on May 25.

The Caribou Trail All-Opponent Girls Softball “First” Team award winners includes: First Base, Kelli Ayling, Outfielder, Mandi Zowada; and Honorable Mention, Dawn Boyd; and Coach of the Year, Mike Zowada, Lake Roosevelt Lady Raiders.

Grand Coulee Dam Project Manager Don Tracy announced the annual Spillway Light Show that heralds the beginning of the summer tourist season, starts June 13 with a 30-minute spill down the face of the dam at 1:30 in the afternoon, and later, a one-and-a-half hour program at 9 p.m. daily through Labor Day.

In Coulee Dam, the Space Needle Tourist Information Booth opened last week for the summer, under the direction of Ellie Brado of Ellie’s Curio Corner.

The Small Business Administration of Spokane has three separate parcels of land and buildings of U.S.Government Property located at Belvedere, near Elmer City, for sale by sealed bid on June 16, 1975: One has a store building with living quarters, separate garage and two gas pumps, formally the Belvedre Grocery; one parcel has a chicken coop and the other one, a well.

Eric R. Stallman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stallman of Coulee Dam, attended the Student American Pharmaceutical Association meeting in San Francisco with other students and faculty from the College of Pharmacy at WSU. Stallman is a senior at WSU, majoring in Pharmacy.

At the Safeway Store in Grand Coulee this week, for 50 cents or less, you can take home: a 12-oz. can of frozen orange juice; a two-pound pack of frozen hash browns; two 13-oz. cans of evaporated milk; a pint of fresh strawberries (37 cents); a 15-oz. can of Nalley’s chili; 2.5 pounds of fresh navel oranges; or one 6.5 oz. can of chunk tuna.
