Bullet proof

vest for dog

Douglas County’s only K-9 dog is now wearing a ballistic vest, safeguarding it from bullet and knife attacks. The dog, Hamu, is handled by Deputy Mike Baker. A national organization, Vested Interest in K9s, has teamed with Groupon, to provide funds to purchase the special K-9 vest for Douglas County’s K-9 and hundreds of other law enforcement agencies.

New trailer to be purchased through Tacoma

Electric City was the final city Tuesday to give approval for the Delano Transfer Station to order a new 48-foot trailer, costing about $100,000. Transfer station officials have an arrangement with Tacoma to use its buying power to get the best price possible for the new trailer.


Revenues flat

May’s revenues at the Delano Regional Transfer Station almost mirror the same amount taken in for the same month in 2014. Last year the transfer station’s receipts were $38,666.40 and this year the receipts for May were $38,322.18. For the year so far the receipts are $12,678.38 ahead of a year ago.
