Four Raider golfers will be competing today at the district tournament, which is being held at Alta Lake Golf Course.

To make it there, the Raiders played in the last match of the season May 11 at home against Okanogan and Moses Lake Christian.

Moses Lake Christian won the match with a total score of 379. The first place for the boys was a tie between Billy Norwell of Okanogan and Sam Roeber of MLCA with 86 strokes. Raider Darin Whiteman was not far behind the leaders with an 88.

“Darin Whiteman (LR) finished third with a season best 88, which included a stellar 40 on the front nine,” Head Coach Steve Files said.

The next two Raiders were Lucas Bird with 115, and Levi Shanklin-Bob with a 135.

On the girls’ side, the top finisher was Isabella Murell of MLCA, who shot a 101. Jonell Denchel was the only Raider girl, scoring a 126.

Today at Alta Lake Quincy Williams, Bird, Whiteman, and Denschel will be competing for a chance at going to the state tournament. “Our district is allotted seven slots at state for boys, and three for girls,” Files explained. “It will be an extremely competitive tournament on a difficult track — should be an exciting challenge for our kids.”
