Raider track saw another successful day April 18 at the Quincy Invitational, where the good weather helped many to a great performance.

“Every time an athlete performed, they achieved a season-best and many set personal records,” Head Coach Lori Adkins said. “It was an absolutely great day!”

Octavio Alejandre improved his shot put mark for the season and came home the meet champion in the event. Alejandre threw 47 feet, 11.5 inches, which is only 4 inches from a career PR.

Katelynn Schilling took second in the shot with a new career PR. Schilling threw 34-2.5, an improvement by over 8 inches from her previous career best. In discus, Schilling took fifth with a throw of 95-1. That was another career PR and an improvement by almost 4 feet.

Dominick Cotton rounded out the placers for the Raiders at Quincy with sixth in the pole vault. He cleared the 9-foot, 6-inch standard.

Matthew Tillman recorded career PRs in two events. Tillman ran a 13.01-second 100 meter dash, an improvement by 19 hundredths of a second. In the javelin, Tillman threw 87-2, an improvement by over a foot from the Deer Park Invite.

This week, the Raiders competed in two meets. Last night LR travelled to Davenport for a Bi-County Meet. On Friday the Raiders head to Peshastin to take part in the Rieke Invite, hosted by Cascade. Most of the District 6 2A through 1B schools will be in attendance. Events start at 4 p.m. at the Peshastin-Dryden sports complex.
