Lady Raider softball went one of three in last week's games, falling to the league-leading Liberty Bell, but prevailing in one of two games in Saturday's doubleheader against Oroville.

At Liberty Bell April 22, Lake Roosevelt left six runners stranded and made too many mental errors on defense, allowing the Mt. Lions to score.

The Lady Raiders hosted the Oroville Hornets in a doubleheader Saturday at Grand Coulee, where a better focused LR team defeated the Hornets in the first game. As a team, LR batted .712 but left eight runners on the basepaths in the 19-18 win, their third of the season.

In the second game, mental errors played a bigger role on defense. The Lady Raiders also left 15 runners stranded in the close game.

"We should have won both games on Saturday but we as a team had too many mental errors that cost us outs," Head Coach Jaime Lezard said.

Tristen Adolph had a good week on the mound, striking out 18 batters. At the plate, Adolph batted .760 for the week with 12 stolen bases. Roxanne Belgrade is the slugger for the Lady Raiders with a .938 batting average last week and 10 stolen bases. Savannah Marin hit .833 for the week with eight stolen bases.

Moving ahead to the next set of games, Coach Lezard would like the team to learn from the mistakes of the second game against Oroville.

Tristen Adolph pitches against Oroville at home Saturday. She struck out 18 batters last week.

"We as a team need to improve on our mental errors and play to our abilities," he said. "We are having way too many errors and at this point it's costing us not only runs and outs, but now it's costing us the game."

Coach Lezard also would like to see the team shake off mistakes quicker to stay focused on the game. The coaches also would like to see the team healthy again so that all the players are in their usual spots.

The Lady Raiders hosted the Manson Trojans last night and on Saturday will take on the Bridgeport Fillies, also at Grand Coulee. The Fillies come into the doubleheader 8-3 overall, including two blowout wins over Manson April 26. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 11 a.m. at the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School.
