Police arrested and jailed a 41-year-old Grand Coulee man after he was identified by separate people as the person entering a house at 208 Banks Avenue after another local house had been broken into and guns taken.

Jonathan J. Anderson was booked into Grant County jail by police Sunday evening after he allegedly had kicked in a door to enter a residence at 100 Banks Avenue in Grand Coulee, then left with three rifles and a handgun.

Witnesses told police that a man had been chased away from another person’s property and that he was seen entering a house at 212 Dill, which they described as the “trouble house.” That’s how police got a description of Anderson. Another neighbor had security video footage.

Police found rifles stashed in brush and a buried handgun, along with shoes, in a bucket near where Officer Adam Florenzen and Sgt. Gary Moore found Anderson weed whacking in the backyard.

Anderson had told them where to look for the handgun.

He was booked on a charge of burglary in the first degree.

The police report stated that possible felony charges on theft of firearms would depend on the prosecutor’s office.
