Updated: The Lady Raiders won May 1 against Waterville 11-1 and finished the season ranked second, earning a first round bi in the league tournament. They will play on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in Grand Coulee against the winner of Saturday's game between Soap Lake and Liberty Bell.

Original article: The Lady Raiders lost a close one in Waterville before strong wins in a doubleheader with Soap Lake.

In Waterville on April 24, the Lady Raiders lost by one point, 6-5, in the seventh inning.

“They played well throughout but we weren’t making the same batting contact that we had in previous games, so we were lacking in offensive scores,” said LR Head Coach Alissa Mansker. “Defensively, we were able to stop most runs, only allowing five to score in six innings. Our pitching by Chasity Williams went great, with minimum walks. However, we lost in the seventh inning off of a defensive error, leading to a stolen run home for the winning score for Waterville.”

The Lady Raiders won both games against Soap Lake April 28 by landslides, with final scores of 27-4 and 22-2.

“We hit very well, with Mikaylah [Thompson] having a triple, Kyona [Edmo] with a triple and Chasity Williams with a double that hit the fence and led to two RBIs,” Mansker said. “Our team was hitting well, and defensively able to stop any hits on the other team from reaching base most of the innings.”

“Madisyn Toulou had an excellent defensive game at third base, making five plays in a row in the second game,” Mansker added. “Eighth-grader Desiree George also had a great two plays in left field.”

The Lady Raiders played Waterville at home yesterday, results of which will be in next week’s Star.

With a win-loss record of 11-4 in the Central Washington 2B league, 13-6 overall, the Lady Raiders are ranked third and should be going into the postseason soon. With the final regular season games finishing up, the Lady Raiders will know soon whom they will be playing in the postseason and where.

Currently, Liberty Bell is ranked second, also with an 11-4 league record, 14-4 overall. Brewster is ranked first at 14-1 in the league, 18-1 overall. Tonasket is ranked fourth at 9-4, (11-6).
