The Raider track team went to Tonasket and Quincy this past week, with individuals setting personal records along the way, including Shyniah Dogskin placing first in the shot put event in Tonasket, and Addison Hansen placing first in javelin at Quincy.

“We had an awesome meet,” Head Coach Lori Adkins said about the April 17 meet in Tonasket. “The athletes competed hard and brought home improved results. Our team is starting to be noticed as a force by other coaches and athletes.”

“Throwers dished out lots of great stats for the boys and girls,” Adkins said. “Shyniah Dogskin won the shot with a huge put! Our girls’ javelin team dominated, taking three out of the top six places in that event.”

Dogskin threw the shot a distance of 31 feet, 11.5 inches.

Addison Hansen, Keianna Vera, and Dogskin placed fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, in the javelin event.

Raider runners at the event had their share of personal records as well.

“Our 400-meter boys shined; both earned PRs,” Adkins said about Traey Clark and Sam Wapato.

In the 3200-meter event, Kyle Edmo placed second with a time of 11 minutes, 26.47 seconds, and Soarin’ Marchand placed third right behind him, in 11:28.3, personal records for both.

“On the girls’ side, nine out of 11 sprint performances were personal records,” Adkins said.

At the Quincy Invite on April 21, the highlight came from Addison Hansen, who placed first in the javelin event, throwing 106 feet, one inch.

“Despite a hard week of competition, the Raiders came away with some great individual performances, PRs and even a champion,” Adkins said about the Quincy Invite.

The Raiders competed in Davenport yesterday, results of which will be reported in the upcoming issue of The Star.

Their next event is the Reike Invitational in Peshastin on Friday, with a start time of 3:30 p.m.

Then on Tuesday, May 1, they compete at the Bridgeport Invitational at 4 p.m.
