You can stock up on books for kids at the Scholastic Book Fair at the Lake Roosevelt Elementary library, April 16-20, and have a lot of fun at the same time.

There’s competition, entertainment, and treats all woven into the school’s week-long book sale, designed for kids of all ages.

Hours for the book experience are Monday and Tuesday, April 16-17, from 8-3:30; Wednesday, April 18, 8-8; Thursday, April 19, 8-3:30; and Friday, April 20, 8-1.

There will be competition among elementary classes to see who wins the “coin war” and wins an ice-cream-party prize.

The overall event is being called “Paws for Books.”

One feature that week will be the dog dress-up days on the following schedule: Monday, Air Bud; Tuesday, Scooby Doo; Wednesday, Beethoven; Thursday, Bolt; and Friday, Benji. It should be a lot of fun for the kids.

Wednesday night, while parents are meeting with teachers, kids can view the popular movie “Beethoven” as part of the overall package. Doors open at 5:30 and the movie begins at 6.

On both Wednesday and Thursday nights, the PTA sponsors are asking that volunteers come to the school and read to students.

The PTA sponsors are asking for volunteers to take part in the reading and in helping in other areas. People can volunteer through the elementary school office.
