Woman burned

A woman was hospitalized Feb. 17 in Moses Lake after a companion pumped gasoline into a trash can in the back seat of their car. She was smoking at the time, which ignited the gas fumes inside the 1988 Ford Tempo at the gas pumps at Cascade Grocery on Valley Road Northeast about 8:15 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The woman got out of the car but sustained severe burns. She was taken to Samaritan Healthcare by a bystander.

The male driver ran away on foot.

After the fire was out, deputies found a large quantity of marijuana in the trunk.
