The Lady Raiders took an early nlead and never looked back as they put together a 77-48 Caribou Trail League win over Cashmere in Coulee Dam Saturday night. That made it two in a row last week, having trounced the Omak Pioneers on their home court 65-44. 

Pipe breaks in school: School district workers are mopping up after a pipe broke over the weekend at Wright Elementary. Superintendent Jeff Loe stated that there is a lot of water in the library and in the hallway off the library. “We don’t think the pipes froze, it was the pipe itself that was rusted through,” Loe said. Wright Elemntary in Coulee Dam has been mothballed since late last spring.

On Feb. 2, 1988, Okanogan County will be 100 years old. In honor of this memorable occasion, the county plans a 10-month long celebration. County Commissioners issued a proclamation nothing that “the citizens and county commissioners of Okanogan County are proud of all of the accomplishments of the past 100 years,” and urging county residents to rededicate themselves “to the important task of making Okanogan County a better place to live.”

BBC Adds Winter Courses: The following class has been added to the Winter Quarter course offerings from Big Bend Community College: Beginning Stained Glass, Instruction in design, glass cutting, leading and soldering of stained glass windows. Copper foil techniques used in lamps, terrariums and other three-dimensional forms will be demonstrated. 

Indians Annual Tourney: The 1978 Second Annual All-Indian Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held January 27, 28, and 29 at the Nespelem Community Center Gymnasium.

Chamber Endorses Need of Missile Base: At the Grand Coulee chamber of commerce meeting last Thursday, it was voted that the group support action already begun by other organizations to obtain local installation of a guided mille base. 

Kamloops Planted In Plastic Cages: One hundred thousand Kamloops ova were planted in Lake Roosevelt this Monday by Washington Kamloops, Inc., a self-financing non-profit organization interested in furthering development of Lake Roosevelt as a fishing and recreational center.
