In the past week the Lady Raiders lost an away game to Brewster, and a home game to Liberty Bell, before winning big in Soap Lake.

In Brewster against the Lady Bears on Dec. 5, LR lost 68-52.

"It was just one of those games, back and forth," Head Coach Wallace "Peewee" Pleasants said. "We had a two-minute stretch where we had six turnovers in a row and went from a four-point game to a 16-point game. Once we got that corrected, we just weren't able to close that gap."

Hosting Liberty Bell on Dec. 7, LR lost 50-44 against the Lady Mountain Lions.

LR started things off with an early lead, but went into the half trailing 22-21. The Lady Raiders took the lead back briefly in the third quarter before slipping back again.

The Lady Raiders tried to retake the lead, with Hannah Wapato sinking a pair of threes to chip away at Liberty Bell's margin, but Liberty Bell held onto the lead until the end.

Although holding Liberty Bell to only 15 baskets in play, Pleasants said, "it was hard to overcome Liberty Bell's 40 free-throw attempts."

"We didn't do the things we started the season doing," Pleasants said. "We didn't rotate at all on defense. We spent most of our night chasing the people instead of going under the screen like we're supposed to."

In Soap Lake on Saturday, the Lady Raiders won 52-26.

"We got off to a slow start before we got going, getting back to the basics of playing solid defense and balanced scoring," Pleasants said.

Kayla St. Pierre led LR in scoring with 14 points, followed by Olivia Ludwig with 12.

The Lady Raiders played Manson last night, results of which will be online at http://www.grandcoulee.com and in next week's Star.

The Lady Raiders play in Tonasket against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thurs, Dec. 14, and at home Saturday, Dec. 16, against the Okanogan Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. in a non-league exhibition.
