Garbage more costly
Garbage rates are going up in Electric City on Jan. 1, 2018. The good news is, not very much. If you use a 65-gallon container, your rates will go from $27.35 per month to $28.17. It’s all in keeping up with costs. Garbage collector Sunrise Disposal received a cost-of-living adjustment and the city is passing this cost on to its customers. The last time Electric City had a garbage rate increase was in 2012.

Electric City council approved the application of James D. Van Gystel to join the city’s volunteer fire department at the council’s meeting Nov. 14.
Anderson to take mosquito district post
Ken Anderson was named to fill Electric City’s seat on the Grant County Mosquito District 2 board of commissioners at the city council’s last meeting. In other action, the council agreed to a contract with Grant County Health District for 2018, with the city paying $2 per capita to the district.
Nordine to take council seat early
As soon as election results in Grant County are certified, Carol Nordine will fill position 4 on the Electric City Council. Nordine was the lone candidate for that position, which was held by Jeremy Miller until he resigned early in November. Nordine received 137 votes in the Nov. 7 general election.
