Kayla Wells-Moses, Family & Consumer Sciences Educator with Colville Reservation WSU Extension, was honored at the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences 2017 annual session, "Harvesting Opportunities in NEAFCS!" The conference was held October 16-19, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska.

During the Awards Banquet at the conference, Kayla received three National Awards. The first award Kayla received was a 1st place National and 1st place Western Region Human Development/Family Relationship Award.

This award was established in 2012 to recognize effective educational programs in the human development and/or family relationships arena. In receiving this award, Wells-Moses was recognized for her Positive Indian Parenting program. Since Kayla earned a 1st place National Award, she was also invited to present a poster at the Showcase of Excellence during the NEAFCS Annual Session.

The second award Kayla received was a 2nd place National and 1st place Western Region Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award at the conference. In receiving the award, Wells-Moses was recognized for her Fundamentals of Financial Literacy program that she developed for delivery on the Colville Reservation. Her programs include workshops on spending plans, saving and investing, understanding credit and dealing with debt. The Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award recognizes Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educators who have developed financial management programs which help individuals and families make decisions and plans for their present and future needs. The award is named in memory of Dean Don Felker, Dean of the School of Consumer and Family Sciences, Purdue University, for his outstanding contributions to NEAFCS.

The third award that Kayla received was the 2nd place National and 1st place Western Region Educational Publications Communications Award. In receiving this award, Wells-Moses was recognized for her publication titled, Making Jams, Jellies and Fruit Spreads. The Educational Publications Communications Award recognizes excellence in communications in a fact sheet, brochure, bulletin or poster developed for an educational program. This is for a supplementary educational information piece designed to inform, update and make the reader respond in a positive manner. This award is sponsored this year by the NEAFCS membership and awards fund.

Kayla Wells-Moses provides educational workshops across the Colville Reservation. Her educational focuses are Food Safety/Foods Preservation, Positive Indian Parenting and Financial Fitness.
