Marcia Warnecke has lived in Coulee Dam for 45 years and now she’d like to help the town by serving on the town council.

“I think I can offer some objective, new ideas and help,” she said. “It’s important to be able to listen and hear every side and make your own decisions.”

Keeping the construction of the new wastewater treatment plant on track is important to her, she said.

“We need to take care of our city,” she said. “If somebody doesn’t get involved and help, it can’t be done alone.”

With her lengthy and in-depth local experience, Warnecke says she’ll be able to help.

Warnecke put two children through local schools, worked in retail and at the National Park Service for over 30 years, and was very involved in youth sports.

“I just feel like I could be a help,” she said. “Anyone wants to have someone involved who cares and knows a little bit about the community.”

“I want to listen to the issues, … understand what they are, be knowledgeable and objective and, with other council members, see the different sides of things,” she said.

Warnecke said she has no pet peeve or special project to pursue. In fact, she thinks the current council is “doing a great job, and we need to continue doing that. …

“I’m curious to see how things go,” Warnecke said. “I think I’d be an asset just from being here in the area for so many years.”
