Questions for candidates

Here are three questions/concerns/issues that have been posed by our community members to candidates in the upcoming August primary and November election.

Again, I have no favor toward any candidate. I am simply asking questions so that voters can know where you stand and thus cast an informed vote. People are discussing these issues and hoping for your responses, and noting when there is none.

1) Where do you stand on consolidation of our towns and why do you take that particular position? If you are in favor of consolidation, what actions will you take to bring it to fruition?

2) Four years ago, Ben Alling introduced a proposal to build a small water feature in Mason City Park (East Coulee Dam, caddy corner to Harvest Foods) that was interesting and entirely doable. It went nowhere at that time. There is currently nothing in the way of “wet” relief in playgrounds in our town and as we all know, we have no pool. What ideas would you have for making our parks wetter for young families? Have you seen Ben’s proposal?

3) Would you be in favor of recording all town council meetings and posting the video of meetings to the Coulee Dam Town internet page so people who cannot otherwise attend council meetings can be apprised of local issues?

Thank you in advance for your anticipated responses. We’d also like to hear about your pet projects and ideas. We CAN all make a difference, but not if we don’t communicate. Let’s start now.
