Raider tennis loses in Liberty Bell

Raider tennis lost as a team in Liberty Bell on Thursday, but there were some wins at the individual level.

The boys lost 4-1 in their matches, and the girls lost 3-2 against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions.

In the boys’ singles, Aidan Derr lost 6-0 in both sets against Jesse Schultz; Bradley Wilder lost 6-3, 6-2 against Alex Whites; and Cristian Ruiz lost 6-4, 6-1 against Isaac Blodgett.

In the boys’ doubles, Will Friedlander and Malcom Carson defeated Tim Haley and Grayson Alexander 6-7 (9-7), 6-4, and 1-0 (7-3), but the boys had to forfeit the next doubles match due not having enough qualifying players.

In the girls’ singles, Rylee Pitner defeated Logan Butler 7-5, 6-4; Alexia Ryan defeated Chloe Temple 7-6 (7-5), and 6-3; and Savannah Hobrecht lost to Karlee Wright 7-5, 0-6, 1-0 (7-5).

In the girls’ doubles, Shay Schilling and Tarissa Clark lost to Erin Frey and Ruthanne Mattheson 6-0 in both sets, as did Emily Bates and Keziah Stice to Tiva Ward and Shelby Vintin.

“I am pleased with the team’s steady improvement,” Head Coach Steve Archer said.

The Lake Roosevelt tennis team played yesterday in Omak, results of which will be in next week’s Star.

They will host the Wilbur Wildcats at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 30, on the courts in Coulee Dam.
