Stuart Duane "Stu" Frye, 51, of Benton City, Washington, passed away Monday morning, March 20, 2017, in Nespelem, Washington. Born Saturday, July 31, 1965, in Dayton, Washington, to Duane G. and Jean Spence-Frye, Stu graduated from Lake Roosevelt High School, where he played outfield with the baseball team. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Army to serve his country, only to be discharged early due to medical conditions. At various times, Stu worked at several occupations, including bartender and carpenter, and was a member of the Grand Coulee Eagles. As well as the Eagles, Stu enjoyed spending time with friends at Grand Coulee's Moose Lodge and Wolf's Den, as well as the Electric City Tavern. An adamant Miami Dolphins and University of Washington Huskies fan, Stu loved watching football, bowling, playing pool, rounds of golf and the football pool at H&H in Electric City. His unique sense of humor often caught those around him by surprise, for Stu could begin by getting people annoyed with him and before they realized it they were laughing with him. A proud dad and grandpa, Stu's greatest joy was spending time with his family and often retelling the story of the day his daughter, Melanie, was born.

Predeceased by his mother, Jean Frye, and a brother, Ian Robert Frye, Stu's legacy lives on through his significant other, Evelyn Lynn; beloved daughter, Melanie Clark; son-in-law, Devin Welkley; grandchildren: Maliky Grinnell and Amaya Grinnell; father, Duane Frye; brother, Kenneth Frye; sister-in-law, Veronica Frye; sister, Heather Frye; nephews: Jaimend D. Hill and Ian M. Frye; and nieces: Jatika L. Bell, Alexandra D. Johnson, Dominique S. A. Johnson, and Cara J. Frye.

A celebration of Stu's life will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Strate Funeral Home, 329 E. Grand Coulee Ave., Grand Coulee, WA 99133. Father Jake Morton will officiate; with Devin Welkley, Mike Johnson, Dave Johnson, Gary Norris, Kenneth Frye, and Jeffrey Butcher serving as Honorary Pall Bearers.

Please sign his online register book at http://www.stratefuneralhome.com. Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, WA is in care of arrangements.
